My Goal
My Story
Honestly, I use to think that I was never creative or really even good at anything. Every time someone asked me "what are your hobbies?" or "What do you like to do for fun that you're good at?" I would look at them and nothing really came to mind. When I try to think of a career goal, people tell me to do what I love and work will never even feel like work, but I can never think of anything that I actually love doing. So, I decided to take a exploring creativity class. This class brought me along to find this quote that I love: "Our job in this life is not to shape ourselves into some ideal we imagine we ought to be, but to find out who we are and become it." -Steven Pressfield This got me thinking a little harder about finding out who I am and what I love to do. I tried drawing, painting, crocheting, making candles and even tried crafting and none of those things really kept my attention. Then one day it just hit me. I decided I wanted to try photography. I didn't realize it but photography has been a passion of mine all along, ever since I got my first digital camera. I was always taking photos at family reunions and friend gatherings. I started researching how to take a good photo and how to make a photo my own. Basically what I found out was that every photographer has their own view of a "good" photo. Everyone has a different look on light, direction, and they all have a different view on backgrounds and poses for clientele. Then comes editing. And of course every photographer is going to edit a photo different then the next. Photography is definitely a creative skill. I believe you need to be creative, not only because you want your photos to stand out but you have to know how to make your client happy by capturing their most cherished moments in a way that they feel good about their own photos. They say "a picture is worth a thousand words" and they are! Sometimes you need to think productively to take a good photo. By that I mean, think of lots of different poses and backgrounds, try to see different object in different perspectives. Even if you think your ideas are not the greatest, your client may think it's your best idea yet! Also, creative thinkers come up with bad ideas all the time, and sometimes those bad ideas lead you to your greatest ideas. It took Thomas Edison a thousand times before he invented the light bulb.
